Collect at Somerset House
— March 2020
The Crafts Council’s Collect exhibition opened with a private view on 27th February 2020. It was exciting and bountiful as a cornucopia of craft mediums were graced by the backdrop of Somerset House in London.
The display of all disciplines, from ceramics to textiles, jewellery and glass, was beautifully curated.
There was a real buzz throughout the exhibition, and lots of red dots at the private view. It was wonderful to talk to craftspeople representing their work, as well as appreciating the collective displays presented by galleries.
During the event the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust gave a talk about being creatively in the zone, and out of ones comfort zone. The speakers were invited to discuss the relevance of commerciality, and stretching the boundaries of the materials they work in.
