A 500 square metre glass façade was commissioned for a mixed-use development which included a flagship superstore. Mel worked with Q2 Architects with Abbeygate Developments. Enamelled and toughened glass was incorporated into the curtain walling of the west elevation street-scene stretching over 100m in all.

The art focused on animating the space within the store as well as making the store a landmark. The art functions on very many levels. Day and night; near to and far away. It is both for those who use the store and those using the surrounding area. This work was made by hand, despite its scale, and pushed the boundaries of enamelling on glass with vitreous enamels.
